How to Actually Use Writing as Therapy
Without Turning It into Another Stressful Task
Let’s be honest. When you are already stressed, anxious, or just plain overwhelmed, the last thing you need is one more thing that feels like homework. “Writing is therapy,” they say, but no one explains how to do it without adding to the pile of pressure already sitting on your chest.
Here is the truth. There is no right way. But if you want a nudge to get started, here is what worked for me after my own mess. That mess included watching myself flatline, dealing with a fear I could not even put into words, and finding that a cheap spiral notebook ended up being one of the best tools I had.
Step One: Lower the Bar.
